Methodology

We strive to ensure our data is as accurate and relevant as possible. Today, most of our data is pulled and aggregated from various sources across the web (i.e. PitchBook, Crunchbase, articles, firm websites, etc.) and some of it is submitted directly from participating VCs.

All of the metrics that we report can be calculated using public information. For example, in order to calculate Series A follow-on rate, we:

• Examine a seed firm’s publicly disclosed seed investments over a 5-year time period (more on this in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
• Track those companies
• Determine how many have raised Series A rounds to date
• Divide the count of companies that have raised Series A rounds by the count of companies that raised seed rounds
